Family sessions

Your family session will be laid-back, relaxed, and yes, even fun! Even the dads end up having a great time and are surprised at how easy it is to create beautiful, authentic images of your family. Although my work looks unposed, I guide and pose you every step of the way. You are never left wondering what you should do! Parents- you are off duty during your session! As a mom of two young children myself, I have experience with grabbing and holding a child's attention, and engaging with them in a way that makes them feel so comfortable. Sometimes kids have off days, and that's OK! You can sit and cuddle with them, and most of the time those are actually the best shots of the session. They are the most meaningful because you are comforting them- and isn't that one of our biggest jobs as parents- to make sure we are there for our kids when they need us most.

Extended Family Sessions

Extended Family Sessions are sessions that include three (or more!) generations- think grandma & grandpa, cousins, and the whole rest of the gang. Your session will be a little more "posed" than my regular family sessions, but each family unit gets a short session of their own in addition to shots of the group, grandparents with grandchildren, and all the cousins together. I have a lot of experience working with large family groups: I always photograph the families with littles first, so that they can relax while I photograph the rest of the families and couples. These sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, or your family vacation to Vermont!

Maternity sessions

Maternity Sessions hold a special place in my heart- I had a session when I was pregnant with each of my girls, and it was such a healing experience. Especially with my second, I really didn't feel like me. And I felt that by celebrating my body and actually taking the time to embrace the powerful job it was doing, it made me love myself in that moment of my life.

If this is your first baby, you (and your spouse if you have one) are celebrating a huge change in your lives. If you already have other children, you will never again be there just for them. So your maternity session will focus on the here and now: the intimacy of you as a couple, your love for your earth-side littles. I guide you into flattering, comfortable poses, and we always have a relaxed and fun session.

Newborn Sessions

Your family deserves the most relaxed session possible after your baby is born. This is why I photograph with a lifestyle technique. What does that mean? It means that I photograph your family in your home or outdoors, and I do not put your newborn in any un-natural poses. Your newborn is the most comfortable and the most safe in your arms, so that's where we photograph them! I may lay your baby on your bed or a blanket for some very natural portraits, but your baby will guide the session. I love at-home photography because you have everything you need right at home- no packing up the diaper bag for a 4 hour session here! Your home is perfectly suited to your session- I have worked in all kinds of homes with all kinds of natural light, so nothing will be a surprise for me! I may tidy up a little in the areas we photograph, but please do not feel like you need to clean the house for me! I remember very clearly the postpartum days, so I take your needs into account when photographing and posing you.
